🔥🔥 نوروز سال شمره مبارک 🔥🔥
According to the old calendar of the people of Alborz mountains and Caspian littoral, August 6th is the first day of the year.
This is different from the Iranian national calendar. Based on what we know and my conjecture, there is a possibility that this calendar was used throughout the region by both farmers and shepherds. However, the majority of those who still remember this calendar, like sargalash (head shepherd) Ramzan Afrasiyabi, are highlanders (people in the mountains) which might strengthen the idea that this calendar belongs to shepherds or mountaineers.
No one knows the actual name of this calendar. Some people in Mazandaran, following some scholars, call it the Mazandarani/Tabari calendar. On the other side of the region, people call it the Deylami/Gilani calendar.
My conjecture is that this calendar was predominantly used by shepherds as Ramzan Afrasiyabi perfectly associates this calendar with ecological changes which were more obvious to them. This is also the case in Mazandaran where shepherds were the guardians of this old calendar. While I do not like to name a thing without examining what natives say, I think Gilaki calendar might be another option as all these people in the mountains using this calendar call their language Gilaki/Gelki/Gelaki.
In this beautiful video, Farhang (a friend of mine and a well-versed guy in Gilaki) talks with sargalash Ramzan Afrasiyabi about our calendar.
