I've not seen this tradition but I've heard during the eclipse my people (people of Caspian, specially Gilan) do a ceremony: they believe if they beat copper (mirsi) cookware and recite special words then iʒdəʱä 'serpent, dragon' will release the sun/moon.
Probably we have similar tradition in other parts of the world.
